Join your colleagues from around the region to explore how Universal Design for Learning can help you create a welcoming, responsive, student-centered classroom that cultivates expert learners.
Day one will be a day of featured speaker presentations, breakout sessions, panels, and networking to support your understanding of UDL as it pertains to designing for equity and achievement for all learners. Day two will be a deeper dive into the content and give you the opportunity to meet with experts to help you develop your personal implementation plans.
A Brief Glance at the Agenda:
We put learners at the center of the educational experience. This event allows for the discovery of how the UDL framework can help design flexible learning opportunities and environments to address the cultural and learning needs of students. This special event is sponsored by the UDL-IRN, PSRtI, and the Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute. With the support of UDL experts and practitioners, individual participants and school teams will construct an effective implementation plan.
DAY 1, MONDAY, DECEMBER 9th, 2019
Focus on UDL implementation from the perspective of designing for equity and achievement for all learners, including:
- Designing to overcome gaps
- District report cards
- Literacy and UDL
- And more!
Other highlights include:
- Breakout and small group sessions with national speakers, implementers from the state of Florida
- Educator resources
DAY 2, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10th, 2019
Day two extends day one with a focus on UDL implementation and will feature UDL Talks from local practitioners. Regional coaches and national leaders from the UDL-IRN will return to support attendees with the design of implementation plans. The day’s format will be based on:
- UDL implementation tools and resources for attendees.
- UDL planning: Work with national and regional leaders to design your team’s action plan.
Associate Credential Session (Tuesday post-event, additional ticket purchase necessary)
Take the first step toward your UDL credentials with an hands-on training to obtain your UDL Associate Micro-Credential. Hosted by Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute. Expect the session to run from 3:45-5:00pm after the main event ends on Tuesday afternoon.
DAY 3, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11th, 2019 (POST-CON, additional ticket purchase necessary)
Field Trip to the Future ($20)
Join us on an exciting trip to the future! We will board our luxury transport (bus) and begin our journey with a visit to PSI High, a Project-Based Learning high school in Seminole County. PSI High is an immersive, full-time program located within Seminole High School where students work in a high-tech office instead of a classroom. Students join teams with their peers and teachers to solve real community, business, and social problems.
We then transition to The UCF Institute for Simulation and Training, an internationally recognized research institute focused on advancing human-centered modeling and simulation technology and increasing our understanding of simulation's role in training and education. This event will give you an opportunity to experience UDL principles in action and view innovative technologies. The cost for this adventure is $20.00 per person.
CORE Credential Session ($60)
Move beyond the “why” of UDL and into a deeper exploration of the essential components of any learning environment or experience designed with UDL in mind. Join us for a dive into the Learning Designed CORE Credential. Hosted by Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute.
